What can cause a horses teeth to grow to be too long, and what can be done to prevent it?

Horses teeth grow because as they eat they grind them down. You have the dentist/vet come out and file them down it's called floating.

A horses teeth are designed to grow continually because horses are grazers and are eating most of the time. Because of this, it is sometimes necessary to have a vet come and "float" (file) your horses teeth.
Reply:well, if you go to your local tracter supply co. they usually have things that you can give your horse to bite on. It will help keep its teeth down, and it taste good to him too!
