Do horses lose their teeth at a young age?like teething?

My horse, and my horses brother are both around 2-3 years old. But they have both lost a tooth. i was wondering is this normal? i thought that maybe horses lose their teeth like a young child, and then grow their adult teeth?? if not, will they grow back?? thanks so much.

Do horses lose their teeth at a young age?like teething?
yes they do... The teeth will grow back they might look funny for a moment but it will grow back if not already makin a way in
Reply:Yuo your right! They loose their teeth. Its all normal. And yes they grow adult teeth.
Reply:Yes, they lose their teeth and yes they grow back. Horses teeth grow continually during their lifetime as they wear them down through chewing. If you are lucky you'll find a few. I have a least one from nearly all our babies we have raised(most found in the bottom of the water trough.
Reply:this is totally normal, they have baby teeth just like us and then their adult teeth grow in and never stop growing. They grind them down as they chew.
Reply:Yes they do loose they're teeth. Most horses have an adult mouth between the ages of 5 and 6.

If you see bumps underneath their jaw, that's them getting the molars in. So don't get worried when you see that.
Reply:Horses loose teeth starting at about 2.5 years old. The central incisors go first and your second pre-molars then go. They will have all their adult teeth by the age of 4. When they loose their baby teeth, the "adult" teeth are coming in behind them. You can look on my website for more dental info. Good Luck! www.billockequine.com
