My dog got kicked in the mouth by a horse!?

I have a small dog (terrier mix) that has been kicked in the mouth by a horse. The top teeth are bloody and one or two look loose. I think he may lose some of them. He looks to be ok otherwise. It is sunday, and my vet is closed until tomorrow morning. I know I can give baby aspirin, but cant remember the dosage. Any suggestions on what I can do until I can get him to the vet in the morning?

All vets have an emergency number. Call his office, the recording or answering service will get you the emergency contact. This is serious regardless of how minor the injury seems. There may be hidden injuries. Get to the vet.

ADDITION: Contrary to one person's advice, not that you can get it, but never give morphine in a head injury.

Aspirin dose for average and large dogs is 1 baby aspirin which is half the dose of regular aspirin. Small dog dose is 1/2 of a baby aspirin. Baby aspirin is sold in drug stores, etc. as baby aspirin.

WARNING: Aspirin should only be given to a dog with food and only when really necessary--like if the dog is in much pain. It should never be given more than a day or two in a row. Just go to the vet on this one and forget the apsirin.
Reply:Poor thing here is a site that is helpful. Does your local vet have an emergency number maybe
Reply:Take him to the "emergency vet" in your area. (vets take turn being on call)

He may have a concussion or more serious injury.
Reply:Dogs are great at coping. However, do not administer human medicine to a dog. Monitor your dog and by all means use an emergency animal clinic if you have to...
Reply:let them fall out animal teeth grow back its a waste of money to go to the vet for that unless they r showing other injuries
Reply:I'm sorry! That's so sad :-(. Just wash it out a little and give him lots of love and just wait for tomorrow.
Reply:you don't happen to have any morphine, because that would do the job quite well
Reply:if it is sever life or death then go to a local emergeny vet (most are very expensive) but if it can wait then go to your local vet tomorrow
Reply:do nothing...really...there is nothing you can do.
Reply:talk to some one

that know how to take care of dog.
Reply:Poor puppy!! 1 baby aspirin should be ok put it in cheese
Reply:Ouch, poor dog...If you don´t knoe the dosage of aspirin, you should better let it be. If there´s a drug store in the near, you should go there and ask about the dosage of aspirin, or simply call a vet or a druggist. You should go and stop the bleeding, give him a lot of water to drink, this is always good.
Reply:Seiklos is absolutely right. You should have the dog checked out at the vet. He may not appear to be injured right now but there can be more serious injuries that will appear later (i.e. brain bleed) and it may be too late by then. It's better to be safe than sorry and get him checked out right away.

I volunteer at a hospital. One night a guy drove his car into a telephone pole. He was ambulatory at the scene and refused medical treatment. A few hours later he was rushed to my hospital where he later died of internal bleeding. At the time of the accident everyone thought he was fine but he didn't make it.

I'm not trying to scare you just trying to warn you that some things may be worse than they look. Dogs are especially good at hiding pain too.
