Is a horse classified as a rodent?

A horse's teeth keep growing throughout its lifetime.

Is a horse classified as a rodent?
No, a horse is an ungulate (hoofed mammal) belonging to the order Perissodactyla (odd-toed ungulates). There are no rodents with hooves. Rodents are defined by their four large, constantly-growing incisors (the word rodent comes from the Latin 'rodere', meaning 'to gnaw'). Horses' teeth are quite different, though they do keep growing throughout their lives (this is where the expression 'long in the tooth' comes from, since an old horse will have longer teeth than a young one).
Reply:it is a mammal actually.
Reply:NO
Reply:No, horses are NOT rodents, they are equines.
Reply:No.
Reply:Funny. But no, not at this time.
Reply:the ancestor of the horse was actually closer to a tapir I think, but you can link that to a capibara and there's your rodent. taxonomicly no it's not a rodent

haha, people seem to think rodent aren't mammals.
Reply:i sure wouldnt call it a rodent because it is huge
Reply:A mammal - has mammary glands - breasts to feed its young.
Reply:uhhhhhhhhhh.......... no
Reply:No they're classified as Equine. I think you mean their hooves, not teeth. I've never heard of a horse's teeth growing like that.
Reply:No lol
Reply:No, why would the teeth have to do with anything? Its a mammal.
Reply:no because rodents dont get that large
Reply:hahahah because of tht reason u said tht ..tab how about tht it weigh more thn 100 kg....its gaigantic and u classified to rodent ....its mammel
Reply:Using this logic a cat and a dog are the same because they have four feet. A rhinoceros is also classified as a feline because of this reasoning too.
Reply:Yes, a horse is just a form of gigantic mutant rat.
Reply:A horse has hypsodont teeth (teeth which continue to grow throughout the life of the animal). Some rodents also have hypsodont teeth (the lemming and vole families). The cheek teeth of cattle and deer are also hypsodont as are the tusks in boars.

On the classification front horses are part of the Perissodactyla order which also includes rhinoceros and tapirs whereas rodents are from the Rodentia
Reply:no its a ruminant
Reply:no horses are not rodents though they are both mammals a horse is an equine
Reply:i think so?
