My horses teeth?
I think it would be pretty safe to say your horse is losing his baby teeth. Just like people, horses baby teeth are smaller than there permanent teeth. They can look fairly nasty before they come out. If he's eating good and they don't seem to be bothering him I would just keep an eye on them. But, if your really concerned call your vet and quiz him/her on the phone to see what they think.
Reply:I think you need to call your vet out to see.
Reply:I cant remmeber the age our filly lost her teeth, (I was 7-10) but she may be loosing them, are they loose, but the best thing is to have a vet look at them! Good Luck
Reply:If you are worried about it and if there is blood around his teeth you should call your vet.
Reply:I suggest you have his teeth checked by an equine dentist. He or she will sedate him and check and correct if possible his teeth. My 2 year old was chewing halters, ropes etc. She had 2 wolf teeth and a baby tooth pulled and quit chewing.
Reply:ask a VET! =]
Reply:Call your vet out for a dental exam. All horse's teeth get kinda brown, but the blood is concerning. He should have lost his milk teeth by now. As the teeth erupt from his gums and he wears them down, they will get wider, as at his age only the top is showing.
Reply:Horses shed their teeth at 2 1/2 years of age. His three year old teeth will take there place. It is not a problem...the ones you describe are the ones you are going to probably find in your horse's feed bowl. It is not a vet call unless you just want to feel better about it. It is just as natural as a kindergarten kid loosing baby teeth.
