Is it possible when a horse is injected into the muscle instead of the vein that a horse could go chronically lame
Can a horse go lame after having teeth done by vet?
Depending on what the vet injected if he missed the vein and hit muscle the anestetic would casue a huge abcess and it would be full of dead tissue and infection.
Some of the anestetics can casue extreme tissue damage if you miss the vein with them.
Plus if he missed the vein the horse would not have been sedated at all when the teeth were done.
I have never had a problem as they check to make sure they are in a vein before injecting the stuff into the horse.
I have owned horses for almost 30 years and never had it happen yet.
Reply:Never heard of that!
Reply:with all the yrs ive owned and trained i knever heard of that and they cant go lame from being injected in the muscle that far up..check his legs and his feet
Reply:I can't see how the horse would go lame in it's legs after having it's teeth done. There's no relationship between teeth and legs there.
Reply:Dont think so! Probably just a coincidence. Any heat in the leg?? Mine have had to be injected for all sorts of reasons but theyve never once gone lame.
Reply:erected .... whaaaaaaaaattt?
Reply:Don't think there will be a connection unless it had a bump when getting teeth done or twisted awkwardly,
Reply:no. suggest you call your vet back to check out the lameness.
Reply:No pet. That is entirely co-incidental.
Spend more time around your horses mouth and next time he wont have to be sedated.
Reply:Unless the vet hit a nerve other than that I can see no reason why the horse should be lame. Did the horse get stressed and hurt himself whilst having his teeth done?
