My horse wont gain weight and has a really high wither and triangle bum!?

my horse is really hard with weight, and its hard to gain it, the vets seen him and nothings wrong with him, hes a TB 16.2hh and hes 17 on the 3rd of october, and he has put on some muscle on his butt and a little bit on his back, and it is annoying, because everyone thinks i dont take care of him, as in feed him and stuff, but i always do, he has 2 whole big buckets each day i see him, every weekend, and sometimes during the week, i also work him to, lots of trotting, but it isnt doing much!!

its sooo hard to gain weight on him and muscle, he eats stud mix, oaten and lucern mixed, seaweed meal, garlic, oil, and i put water in it so he doesnt choke.

he's teeth are ok, he hasnt got worms or tape worm,

hes just really hard with weight, and i have neva bareback ridden before, and i would love to one day, and all my friends go on bareback rides, and i cant, i neva been on a ride without saddle before, its not fair, anyone know anything i can do about it?

How much hay is this horse getting? Give him a few extra flakes a day and see if that makes a difference. If possible allow him some more pasture time. If nothing works get a second opinion from a different vet.

Do you board your horse? If so, be sure to double check how much they're feeding him. Never just take their word for it either. I would go in at feeding time several days a week (unexpectedly) and COUNT how many flakes of hay your horse is getting. Some horses need to eat more than others because they have a faster metabolism or work harder.
Reply:TB's aren't naturally bulky animals and their muscling isn't that of a QH.

You could try him on ulcer meds to make sure that he isn't suffering from those and causing his weight loss etc.

Other than that, beet pulp, gobs of it, and he will gain weight.
