My horse leans right when riding.?

My horse leans right when riding.I don't know what it is. It isn't his teeth, his back, his feet. It's all been done and it's none of them.

I thought it might be his teeth but he still does it even when i'm riding with just a halter and leadrope saying hello to the other horses.

I've owned him for about 2 weeks and I got him trucke dup from Alice Springs and I am in Darwin.

He's perfect, it's just his leaning problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions because this can be very dangerous when I start riding along roads and I really don't want to have an acident.

If anyone knows why, and how to fix it. IT'D BE REALLY GREAT.

Thanks.

He has been around a time or two! He is evading your commands. Keep him boxed between a set rein (only allow enough rein to execute the gait you ask for)and use a corresponding amount of leg pressure. If he keeps crabbing to the right, get some blunt spurs and at each attempt to get out from beneath your command, apply the right heel with blunts, keep the left leg and heel at the center of the girth steady, no use of spur there. At any responce to get back under you, reward him, get off, pet him and put him up for the day. Stay consistant and he will learn. If he is a real bugger, then trot him in a very tight circle to the right every time he does it, urge him on, soon he will get off his foolery. Use his own evasions againest him, he will think twice.Good luck!
Reply:He's Republican.
Reply:What exactly did you do to check his back and feet? Did you haul him to a vet ?

This sounds like a pain issue to me, if that was a vet that you went to, I would then haul him to a chiropractor and have him evaluated and maybe even an accupuncturist. If the horse is as good as you say he is, its definately worth the money.

Could be a pinched nerve, could be anything, its gonna take more than advice on the net to figure it out. I have used both those techniques on a mule that was first saddle fitting issues then onto a pinched nerve with great results. I highly recommend it.
Reply:It would be great to know the age of the horse, but is your position right? Has he been ridding before?

If he has been ridden before then the previous rider might have been having an uneven position with the legs. That often cause the horse to curve, when going forward.

It could be the saddle. If you use an old saddle that fit another horse, it might be that. Or if the saddle have something pinching him/her.

Does the horse go correctly when free?

There could be tons of reasons - more info required.
Reply:well, if my horse is leaning a way, then im probley pulling one way on the reins. do you use reins? if you dont maybe it would be just his legs, maybe they have something wrong with them, or failing that, maybe its just him, maybe he is used to riding like that. those are my suggestions.
Reply:He's just buldges to the right, this is very common, you just need to support his right side with a very supple leg.
Reply:okay.....horses are very smart animals....he might just be doing it to annoy you. just keep the bridal on and just keep pulling it slightley left so that he dosn't lean/....he'll stop eventuaily
