Is that the best argument they've got?! Horses and other veggie animals have canine teeth too...should I give a horse a hamburger? Didn't think so. I don't think meat eaters are bad people, but when they attack veggies with the "b-b-butt, we have canine teeth" argument I get VERY annoyed.
Am I the only one amused that meat eaters think we need to eat meat because of "canine teeth"?
Agreed. I think it is silly that people look to those
biological things at all to make a decision.
I see it like this: If I can lead a healthy life that does not include the pain, suffering, mutilation and death of thinking, feeling creatures, or I can lead a healthy life that depends on the pain, suffering, mutilation and death of thinking, feeling creatures, I don't need the shape of my teeth or trivia on what people did hundreds and thousands of years ago to help me make that decision... It's just silly.
I don't really care what my teeth say about me, whether they say herbivore, omnivore or carnivore.
Technically my body is designed such that I could conceive and give birth every year of my life starting from when I was thirteen years old. That doesn't mean I should start popping babies out. Times have changed. I no longer need to conceive 10 times to make sure I have 1 surviving baby. And I am not going to consult the way my ovaries were *designed* to decide if and when to have 0 or 20 babies.
Reply:That's a really dumb explanation. I agree, I would be annoyed if I heard that from someone. Meat eaters eat meat because they want to. Veggie people don't eat meat because they don't want to. What other explanation do people need?
Reply:Yes! Someone finally agrees with me.
My meat-eating friends always try to bring that up with me, too, but it never works. I honestly think that humans, are meant to be herbivores. Look at our big, flat molars!
Reply:I always laugh at that one. Canine teeth? I wonder if those people own cats and dogs-with mouths full of true pointy canine teeth. Humans have two tiny incisor teeth, and the rest are flat like other vegetarian creatures. I especially laugh when they say our "teeth are designed for ripping flesh". I would love to see someone take a bite out of a cows @ss, then they might convince me. The truth is, humans cannot even chew meat in its natural state, without it being tenderized and cooked. I guess its what they tell themselves to try to justify eating dead animals. I wonder how many of them would eat meat if they had to hunt, kill, gut, and butcher their own meat-I bet then vegetarians would not be so scarce!
Reply:Actually, canine teeth are for tearing things, not only meat.
We meat eaters actually eat meat because humans are omnivores...That's the best argument I've got. I eat a little bit of everything, because that's how our bodies were designed.
Try to remember that you are the odd man out here, and try to not insult us for being normal. Many of us get very annoyed that all y'all vegetarians and vegans are continually down on us for doing what comes naturally. I don't give you a hard time for the choices you've made...can't you give the rest of us the same respect?
Reply:Our bodies werent actually designed to eat meat. Its really as simple as telling them to go out in the wild (since humans seem to think its "natural" to eat meat the way we eat it), and go hunt for themselves using no tools, and rip into a whole live animal themselves using nothing but their "claws" and teeth. Im not talking bunny rabbits. Besides that, we all know raw meat isnt good for a human to consume.
Here is a funny video :

Reply:I'm still fascinated by the people who think "plants have feelings."
Reply:ha I agree, they think they are RIGHT and who cares, why can't they just keep their opinion to themselves...
Reply:Not answer to your question but just a statement. I don't have any teeth but I like meat.
Reply:I think that people that eat meat know deep down inside, that we really are healthier...and they therefore have to get defensive. They have to justify their love for something so horrible.
Reply:I don't have any canine teeth and never did. There's a picture of my teeth in a dentist book somewhere.
Reply:especially since it's a misnomer. I mean have you seen the canines on a true omnivore? They look nothing like ours.
Reply:I am a vegetarian, a right-leaning libertarian, and do not believe animals have the same rights as humans.
I am also a Christian so for me it is very simple. God made me and designed my teeth. He did not intend on death. No person or animal was to die so in His plan everyone and everything was going to be a vegetarian. Sin is what corrupted things and has lions eating zebras etc. Personally, I do not see that happening in heaven.
I think people have the right to eat animal flesh, if they want to. I do not think people have the right to treat animals cruelly, inhumanly or unethically. This is what bothers a lot of us vegetarians, the fact that most people ONLY seem to care about filling their bellies instead of how the animals are treated. Have any of you that eat animal flesh even investigated the way animals are treated? I do not see how that doesn’t bother people at least a little.
To the person who said vegetarians are wimps...uh the last I checked gorillas, elephants, and bulls, hardly wimpy animals, are vegetarians. I am a bodybuilder (5' 11” 215#) and no one has ever called me wimpy!
What it boils down to is we live in a world where just about everybody thinks they are all that matters and as long as they are happy who cares who or what is hurt. For me this is only one of many signs that Jesus is going to return soon!
To the person that said we vegetarians are the odds ones…you know people said the same kind of things to Jesus. I am proud to be in that company!! If you choose not to believe in God okay, you do watch movies right? Here is a site you may want to visit : http://www.happycow.net/famous_vegetaria... Albert Einstein is one notable vegetarian...don't mind being in any group he is in either.
Reply:eat meat. cave men did rit off animals it's wimpy vegetarians that are filling this world with crap like "everyone a winner" and "we should just settle this peacfully"
Reply:On the same note, if we are meant to be herbivores, why do we have stomachs that are no bigger than our fists?
Dedicated herbivores generally have larger or muliple stomachs for digesting the massive amounts of vegatation required on a daily basis.
EDIT: Here is another point you can give me a 'thumbs down'.
We humans also have another trait that we share with predators which is the way our eyes are set. Having stereoscopic vision (eyes set forward) is also known as a predatory stare. Kind of a waste of evolutionary energy just for ambushing a radish don't you think?
